A usable i-phone has come my way. Contract with O2 just ended
coincidentally.
A price comparison site has LYCA mobile at 50Gb for 24 months at £8.00/ month on 5G and Vodafone 70Gb £10/month on 4G
Any thoughts? Far more data than I will ever need!
Learning the importance of finger stroke length, direction and duration
is a significant deterrent:-(

First of all, are any networks better or worse for you locally?
How much data do you actually need? If it's minimal:
https://www.moneysupermarket.com/mobile-phones/sim-only/?sortBy=TotalContractCost&contractLengths=1&minMinutes=100&maxMinutes=&minData=0&maxData=&minTexts=0&maxTexts=&minMonthlyCost=0&maxMonthlyCost=85&minUpfrontCost=0&maxUpfrontCost=450&
shows
Spusu at £2.90 per month (1GB) - uses EE
Talkhome at £3.99 per month (5GB) - uses EE
Lebara at 49p for the first 4 months, £3.99/month after (1GB) - uses Vodafone
Lebara at 75p for the first 3 months, £4.49/month after (3GB)
etc etc
Variations on similar can be found here: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cheap-mobile-finder/sim-only/
These are all 30 day contracts, so it's easy to ditch them and move
somewhere else. You could try one, and then if you start running towards your limit then port your number to another one.

is a significant deterrent:-(
My guess is that unless you're going to be video or audio streaming then 1-3GB is going to be ample, especially if you're not out and about a great deal as home use will be covered by wifi.

Also look at giffgaff PAYG with a goodie bag added on - no contract
unlimited voice and sms + 1GB for £6 per rolling month. 2GB if you agree
to a rolling 30 day contract. They now also do WiFi calling and 5G.

Actually, having now examined my O2 contract, I see I have 10GB data
already! The charge is creeping up by £1.00 or so per year but still
less than £10.00
I'll try a call to O2 and see if they have any retention inducements:-)

My O2 contract is going up by about £1.40 each year - it's now crept up to £10.30 (unlimited calls/texts, 4GB). Just phoned them threatening to leave - their best offer was £16/month for 3GB data. Interesting.
An advantage with O2 for me is the extras I get because I've got Virgin broadband - double data and international roaming. Neither of which are of much interest. So I've got my PAC code and I'll be looking to change.

Have a look at 1p Mobile (runs on EE):
<https://www.1pmobile.com/index>
Or Spusu (runs on EE):
<https://www.spusu.co.uk/plans>
Spusu do e-sim, so you can be up and running in minutes (I haven’t tried this ).

Thanks - I've signed up to the £4.90 spusu plan, does all I seem to need. The
esim thing is very nifty - got a tempoary number until mine's ported over. You
should be on commission ;-)

I'm with Spusu because I don't use much data so what am I supposed to
do with an extra 5Gb?
