They'll now have to leave their bedroom, go downstairs and enter the
    kitchen.

I have seen a lot of fluff around this, but nothing to say that the knife bought from Amazon was the one used in the attack.

    Cheers

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c78w7nlwz9po
"His time at Range High School ended in October 2019 when he took a
    [kitchen] knife into school."

Why didn't the BBC say it was a kitchen knife, and not a "zombie" knife
    (or whatever)?

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvg85lkpz0zo
"Tougher checks on knife sales fast-tracked after Southport attack."

Clear example of the "politician's syllogism".

(I'm glad I've stockpiled caustic soda (to clear my drains) before they ban/restrict it to prevent "acid" attacks.)

The Prime Minister has said that it was the murder weapon. He may, of
course, be mistaken. But he may also be referencing material that he has
seen but the media has not. I suspect we will find out more once the
sentencing is complete. The judge's sentencing remarks will be of
considerable interest to the media and are likely to be widely reported.

I suppose Orwell said it better, but this populist relabelling of things is absurd. A lone sociopathic killer, perhaps getting revenge for how he has been treated, perhaps just obsessed with killing, being labelled as a 'terrorist'
is pointless. Equally expecting Prevent to deal with a non-existent ideology
is remarkably unfair. Even the Americans don't claim their 'school shooters' are terrorists.

If anything could have been done about this youth it was in the realm of
social work or mental illness services - not terrorism prevention. Still less
a futile attempt to prevent him getting hold of common domestic implements.
