    for some bizarre reason I didn't know anything about Pin Point until
    today .. as I spent quite some time researching about APRS and ended up
    with sdr-sharp (sdr-pp doesn't work for me) + direwolf

    I find sdr-sharp quite cumbersome and, honestly, given my needs for the
    APRS feature only it's like killing a fly with a bazooka

    You don't even need a radio. There's an android application for a mobile
    phone.

    I was using aprs to to track the progress of a SOTA operator today and
    noticed he was using the android app. I've just worked him on 2m, 4m
    and 13cm . Handy for SOTA as time-of-arrival at the summit can be a bit
    iffy.
