middle” of an empty residential street.
A clip of the incident, filmed by Limerick-based cyclist Aidan Hogan,
shows a group of young cyclists riding home from school when a motorist
exits her car after appearing to park it on the street. The driver then
gesticulates towards the children and calls out: “The middle of the
road, in the middle of the road”.
Clearly she was telling them to ride in the primary position as per
Highway Code rather than in the gutter.

Shouldn’t you have read the Highway Code before venturing out on the road? The gutter is the right place for cyclists, although the HC puts it more delicately.
Further, I think you will find that in that tedious document there are numerous references to the word ‘position’, and none at all to the word ‘primary’.
It therefore follows that there are no references in it to ‘primary position’ - which is unsurprising as it is a term manufactured by cycling propagandists to award themselves powers for which they have no authority.
Yet there are simpletons out there that believe anything they are told by
the self-appointed crusaders of the cycling world, as we have just seen.

Would that be the same Highway Code telling cyclists to ride in the middle of the lane?
