A 'CARELESS' driver has been banned from the roads after crashing into
and seriously injuring a cyclist.
Max Retburg had been driving towards the crossroads at Stocks Lane and
Well Bank Lane in Over Peover on August 9 last year when the collision occurred.
The 37-year-old BMW driver, of Knutsford Road, Chelford, crashed into the cyclist at around 8am.
The cyclist, a 55-year-old man from Macclesfield, suffered broken ribs, a broken arm and a haematoma.
Retburg was charged with causing serious injury by careless or
inconsiderate driving and pleaded guilty when he appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on Wednesday (July 26).
Taking his plea into account, magistrates disqualified Retburg from
driving for 12 months and ordered him to complete 80 hours of unpaid work.
He must also pay court costs of £120 to the Crown Prosecution Service and
a surcharge of £114.

Fessing up early doors = slap on the wrist for seriously injuring an innocent man.

Recently, a chap was released from prison after serving 17 years, most of which was because he didn’t fess up.
The only snag is that he didn’t do it, being finally exonerated after DNA available at the time of his arrest was finally tested.
Oh, and also because the organisation that was supporting him had to go to court *twice* in order to force the Greater Manchester Police to disclose documents that proved his innocence but which were withheld, for reasons
best known by the people involved, from his trial.
Fessing up early doors isn’t always a good strategy, even if grievous suffering is heaped on you for doing so. I hope he takes those in authority to the cleaners.
