Police are hunting a hit-and-run driver after a cyclist was knocked over on a Swadlincote road. The motorist is then said to have struck a kerb and 'narrowly missed' some parked cars on Alexandra Road in the centre of the town.

Officers say they were called to the scene at 7.50pm on July 23. A spokesperson for the policing team in Swadlincote said: "We received a call from a cyclist who had been hit by a silver hatchback Peugeot on Alexandra Road. The Peugeot narrowly missed
parked cars and hit the kerb after hitting the cyclist. The driver did not stop at the scene."

The driver is described as a white female in her early 40s with brown hair and was bearing a black t-shirt. Anyone with information should ring Derbyshire Police on 101 and quote incident 1058 of July 23.

The cars were *not* hit, then?

A bit early for "excess alcohol" perhaps, but some people are known to
    drink all afternoon.

With such a precise description, identifying the driver should be a doddle.

Mind you, someone who was "definitely" recognised by a victim twenty
years ago did seventeen years in prison before it was realised that the
ID simply could not have been accurate.

They mean *reliable* information, of course.

You know... like the registration mark (which is plainly displayed, particularly on the rear of a vehicle).

Fake report - drivers never drive over kerbs and pavements.
