Police have released CCTV footage after a driver was punched in the face following an "racially aggravated" altercation with a group of cyclists. Detectives want to identify two people as part of their investigation into the assault in Bournemouth.
Officers say that at around 3.05pm on Saturday, July 29, the victim - a man aged in his 40s - was driving in Capstone Road when he became involved in a verbal exchange with some cyclists.
The victim got out of his vehicle and one of the cyclists punched him to the face. He was then kicked and punched further, causing him to fall to the ground, before the cyclists made off in the direction of Charminster Road.
It was reported that during the assault the victim was subjected to racial abuse. (YEAH SURE - SJM) The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to a number of injuries.
Detective Constable Laura Smith, of Bournemouth CID, said: “Dorset Police takes all reports of hate crime very seriously. This incident left the victim with serious injuries and we have been conducting a number of enquiries.
“We have obtained CCTV images of two people we would like to identify as part of our ongoing investigation. I would urge anyone who recognises them to please contact us.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault or captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”
