• Shocking moment cyclist, 31, smashes into a car before his bike erupts

From Simon Mason@21:1/5 to All on Sun Oct 1 13:51:08 2023
A bike rider has been sentenced over a crash which caused a large fireball as his vehicle erupted into flames.

Dashcam footage filmed by another vehicle shows Stavius Gordon, 31, flying through the air after his KTM motorcycle crashed into a silver Audi as it turned off Ditton Lane in Cambridge on September 9, 2022.

He is shown careering down the road as the Audi makes the right turn. His cycle bursts into flames.

The Audi and a nearby private ambulance parked nearby were damaged in the crash, according to Cambridgeshire Police.

Mr Gordon suffered minor injuries in the crash, losing his toe, which happened shortly before 6 p.m.

While Mr Gordon initially denied riding the motorcycle, he was charged with driving without due care and attention following witness statements from other drivers and the dashcam footage emerged.

He admitted at Cambridge Crown Court last Thursday to driving without due care and attention and was fined £120. He was also given nine points on his driving licence.

He also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, police said.

Mr Gordon was jailed for two years in August for intimidating his ex-partner by smashing her car window in July 2021.

PC Sarah Pride, who investigated the matter, said: 'I would like to thank witnesses who came forward and described Gordon's manner of driving in the moments leading up to the crash.

'Gordon lost a toe as a result of the collision but it was thanks to his helmet that it wasn't anything more serious. He had a provisional licence and will need to reapply.

So NOT a motorcyclist at all.

Just another chav-cyclist with ideas above his station.

Link between a helmet and a missing toe?

Any more driving offences would hand him a totting up ban - good move, your honour.

The motorcycle hit the car's rear end. The car driver cannot be held guilty for being hit, like a rear end shunt. The motorist had almost completed his manoeuvre and started the turn, without seeing any vehicle approaching. However, the bike was
travelling so fast, that he couldn't avoid the collision. All as proved by the prosecution.
