A man has died following a crash in the Black Country. The young BMW driver died in the fatal incident on Stourbridge Road in Lye, just before 7pm on Friday night, November 10.
West Midlands Police said they are hunting two cars who allegedly fled the scene, and issued details of the make and models that could be linked to the incident. Sadly the 21-year-old driver died at the scene after hitting what the force described as "
street furniture."
Officers are also scouring CCTV outside a car dealership and have urged anyone that can help their investigation to get in touch. It is understood there have been no arrests so far, and specialist officers are supporting the young man's devastated family.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We’re investigating after a man died in a collision on Stourbridge Road in Lye, just before 7pm last night (10 Nov). The 21-year-old driver of a black BMW 325 M Sport sadly died at the scene after hitting
street furniture.
"We believe two other cars were involved and could have contributed to the collision. Both cars did not stop and we’re now appealing for the drivers to come forward, or asking for anyone with information to contact us.
"We’re looking for a white car, possibly a hatchback, and a small dark coloured car. We’re exploring CCTV from the scene outside a car dealership and the surrounding area. We’re also speaking to witnesses, but we would like to hear from anyone else
who can assist us in discovering how this young man has tragically lost his life.
"Our specialist investigators are in touch with the man’s family, so that we can keep them fully updated with our investigation. Our thoughts remain with them, after receiving such devastating news.
