• Wales: 20mph limits to save NHS

From Spike@21:1/5 to All on Wed Nov 15 16:49:54 2023
QUOTE In Wales, nearly 400,000 people have signed a petition to rescind the
new 20mph law, amid claims from some motorists that it is causing
"gridlock" and is "completely disorganised". However, the Welsh government
says the measure will save up to 100 lives and 20,000 casualties in the
first decade, while saving the NHS in Wales £92 million a year. ENDQUOTE

The NHS (a ‘devolved power’) in Wales is badly run and overspent.

“NHS Wales has not met targets for A&E. Figures for December show the worst A&E performance since March 2016”

“Ambulance services are under resourced, staff miss breaks and have to work beyond their shift. Due to pressure sickness absences for ambulance staff reached the highest level since records began in the first three months of 2018”.

Anything to save a few bob, or at least appear to do so.
