A NUMBER of fines were issued and more than 20 vehicles stopped in a police road safety crackdown in Oldbury.
Traffic officers stopped vehicles suspected of being dangerous or being driven illegally in the multi-agency operation on Tuesday January 30.
In total, 23 vehicles were stopped with fines issued and drivers spoken to for a number of motoring offences.
Three fines were issued to people not wearing seatbelts, drivers were also fined for illegal tinted windows, illegal number plates and having no MoT.
Meanwhile - a dangerous tyre was identified and replaced, an unsecured load made safe and three prohibitions were served on commercial vehicle drivers.
Police also seized a vehicle which had no insurance, banned a driver from moving with an abnormal load and found one vehicle without an operators’ licence and one without a waste carrier licence.
The operation saw colleagues from the Driver and Vehicle Licence Agency, Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, Environment Agency and others work alongside police officers.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “This operation is just one of the many proactive measures undertaken to make Sandwell’s roads safer.”
People are urged to report motorists believed to be driving illegally by passing information to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555111.
