Police closed a major road in Cheltenham on Thursday afternoon (February 8) because of a reported altercation. Brooklyn Road in Cheltenham was blocked off by police officers for hours amid the incident.involving a cyclist and a motorist. A road closure was put in place while emergency services were in attendance.
An eyewitness told GloucestershireLive that there was a heavy police presence in the area and ambulance crews were also at the scene. They said: "Lots of cops further down at the other end of the road closure. Police and ambulance there".
Gloucestershire Police has now confirmed that there was an altercation between a driver and a cyclist. A spokesperson for the force said: "We were called at around 1.50pm today (Thursday) with a report of an altercation on Brooklyn Road in Cheltenham
"The driver sustained injuries and was treated by paramedics. It was reported that the cyclist left the scene and he was described as being white, aged in his 20s, more than 6ft tall and of a slim build. He was wearing all dark clothing and blackwellington boots.
"Anyone who witnessed what took place and has not yet spoken to police can provide information online by completing the following form and quoting incident 224 of 8 February here. The road was later reopened."
