• upscaling Pamela?

I see someone's uploaded (about 10 months ago) a new version of Bath
    Salts in 930 by 720:

For some reason, this was clearly shot on film, whereas I presume the
majority of that series was shot on videotape, so the best we could hope
    for is 576i.

I'm trying to work out whether the new upload is actually a rescan of
the film, or just an upscale of the 576i (or another version); I rather
suspect the latter, since it does look rather "soft", and also the
colour, contrast, etc. look fine, whereas I'd expect to see at least
_some_ degradation on 40-odd-year-old film stock [unless correction for
that has been applied]. (Though I do hope the original film _does_
    survive somewhere!)

Still, nice to see - the best previous I'd been aware of was a 640 by
    480 (-:

There doesn't seem to be more than SD quality in it, so I suspect
upscaled ... Have you tried pushing it through any of the free AI video upscalers? e.g. WaiFfu2x/UpScayl

    That's what I thought.

No - I wouldn't know where to start. Do they really do anything
unexpected? I really can't see how you can make what's not there in the
    first place.

No sense being pessimistic. It wouldn't work anyway.
